In 2011 Merrimack canoes were noted in the 2011 issue of Forbes (magazine)'s winter "Life" issue and Town & Country (magazine)'s December issue. The company was also identified in Garden & Gun magazine as a "runner up for the best built product in the South". The workmanship was described as "a balance between technology and tradition" and uses a reinforced carbon-fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass hull with wooden ribs made from Tennessee cherry trees. The seats are hand-laced and brass hardware is used, resulting in a "beautiful yet durable boat."〔(Made in the South Awards 2011 ) Haskell Harris, Elizabeth Hutchison, T.
